The Holy Shakti Peeths are established throughout the Indian subcontinent. The Devi Purana describes 51 Shakti Peeths, while in the Devi Bhagavata, there are accounts of 108, and in the Devi Gita, 72 Shakti Peeths.
Conversely, the Tantra Chudamani lists 52 Shakti Peeths. The Devi Purana specifically discusses the 51 Shakti Peeths, some of which are also located abroad. Currently, there are 42 Shakti Peeths in India, 1 in Pakistan, 4 in Bangladesh, 1 in Sri Lanka, 1 in Tibet, and 2 in Nepal.

The Kiriteshwari Shakti Peeth is located on the banks of the Hooghly River in Lalbagh Fort, West Bengal. It is believed that the crown (kirita) of Goddess Sati fell here. The presiding deity of this Shakti Peeth is Shakti Vimala or Bhuvaneshwari, and the associated Bhairav is Samvardhana.
Katyayani Shakti Peeth:
The Katyayani Shakti Peeth is situated in Vrindavan, Mathura, at the Bhuteshwar Temple. It is believed that the hair of Sati fell here, and the goddess Katyayani is worshiped at this location. The associated Bhairav is Bhutesh.
Karveer Shakti Peeth:
Located in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, the Karveer Shakti Peeth is where the three eyes of the goddess fell. The Shakti at this Peeth is Mahishasuramardini, and the Bhairav is Kroddhaish.
Shri Parvat Shakti Peeth:
The exact location of this Shakti Peeth is debated among scholars. Some believe it is in Ladakh, while others place it near the Sileru River in Andhra Pradesh. The Shakti here is Shri Sundari, and the Bhairav is Sundaranand.
Vishalakshi Shakti Peeth:
Situated in Mirghat, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the Vishalakshi Shakti Peeth is where the gem from the right ear of Goddess Sati fell. The Shakti is Vishalakshi, and the Bhairav is Kalabhairav.
Godavari Shakti Peeth:
Located on the banks of the Godavari River in Kabbur, Andhra Pradesh, this Shakti Peeth is where the left cheek of the goddess fell. The Shakti here is Vishweshwari or Rukmani, and the Bhairav is Dandapani.
Suchindram Shakti Peeth:
Situated at the confluence of the three seas in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, the Suchindram Shakti Peeth is where a part of Sati’s back fell. The Shakti is Narayani, and the Bhairav is Sanhar or Sankur.
Panchsagar Shakti Peeth:
The exact location of this Shakti Peeth is not known, but it is where a tooth from the goddess fell. The Shakti here is Varahi, and the Bhairav is Maharudra.
Jwalamukhi Shakti Peeth:
Found in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, the Jwalamukhi Shakti Peeth is where the goddess’s tongue fell. The Shakti is Siddhida, and the Bhairav is Unmatta.

Bhairav Parvat Shakti Peeth:
There is a debate among scholars about the location of this Shakti Peeth. Some believe it is near Girnar in Gujarat, while others place it near the Shipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, where the upper lip of the goddess is said to have fallen. The Shakti at this Peeth is Avanti, and the Bhairav is Lambakarna.
Attahas Shakti Peeth:
Located in Labpur, West Bengal, the Attahas Shakti Peeth is where the lower lip of the goddess fell. The Shakti is Fullara, and the Bhairav is Vishwesh.
Janasthan Shakti Peeth:
Situated in Panchavati, Nashik, Maharashtra, the Janasthan Shakti Peeth is where the goddess’s chin fell. The Shakti at this Peeth is Bhramari, and the Bhairav is Vikritaksha.
Kashmir Shakti Peeth (Amarnath Shakti Peeth):
Located in Amarnath, Jammu and Kashmir, this Shakti Peeth is where the goddess’s throat fell. The Shakti is Mahamaya, and the Bhairav is Trisandhyeshwar.
Nandipur Shakti Peeth:
In Sainthia, West Bengal, the Nandipur Shakti Peeth is where a part of the goddess’s body fell. The Shakti at this Peeth is Nandini, and the Bhairav is Nandikeshwar.
Shri Shail Shakti Peeth:
Situated near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, the Shri Shail Shakti Peeth is where a part of the goddess’s neck fell. The Shakti here is Mahalakshmi, and the Bhairav is Sanvaranand or Ishwaranand.
Nalhati Shakti Peeth:
Located in Bolpur, West Bengal, the Nalhati Shakti Peeth is where a part of the goddess’s abdomen fell. The Shakti is Kali and the Bhairav is Yogish.
Mithila Shakti Peeth:
The exact location of Mithila Shakti Peeth is unknown. It is believed to be present in three locations, namely Janakpur in Nepal, Samastipur and Saharsa in Bihar, where a part of the goddess’s left shoulder fell. The Shakti is Uma or Mahadevi, and the Bhairav is Mahodar.
The specific location of Ratnavali Shakti Peeth is uncertain, but it is believed to be in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as per the Bengali Panjika. It is where a part of the goddess’s right shoulder fell. The Shakti at this Peeth is Kumari, and the Bhairav is Shiva.

Ambaji Shakti Peeth:
Located on the summit of the Girnar mountain in Junagadh, Gujarat, the Ambaji Shakti Peeth is where the goddess’s heart fell. The Shakti here is Chandrabhaga, and the Bhairav is Vakratunda. There is also a belief that the upper lip of the goddess fell near Girnar, where the Shakti is Avanti and the Bhairav is Lambakarna.
Jalandhar Shakti Peeth:
In Jalandhar, Punjab, the Jalandhar Shakti Peeth is where the goddess’s left breast fell. The Shakti is Tripurmalini, and the Bhairav is Bhishan.
Ramgiri Shakti Peeth:
The location of this Shakti Peeth is a subject of debate among scholars. Some believe it’s in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, while others place it in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, where it’s believed that the right breast of the Goddess fell. The presiding deities at this Shakti Peeth are Shivanee and Bhairav Chand.
Vaidhnath Shakti Peeth:
Situated in Giridih, Jharkhand, the Vaidhnath Shakti Peeth is where it is said the heart of the Goddess fell. The Shakti at this Peeth is Jayadurga, and the Bhairav is Vaidyanath. It’s also believed that Sati’s self-immolation took place here.
Varkreshwar Shakti Peeth:
This Shakti Peeth is located in Sainthia, West Bengal, where it’s believed that the mind of the Goddess fell. The deities at this Peeth are Mahishasurmardini and Bhairav Vaktranath.
Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth:
Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth is situated at the confluence of three seas – the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal, in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. It is where the Goddess’s pelvis fell. The Shakti here is Sharvani or Narayani, and the Bhairav is Nimishi or Sthanu.
Bahula Shakti Peeth:
Located near Katwa Junction in West Bengal, Bahula Shakti Peeth is where the left arm of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Bahula and Bhairav Bhiruk.
Ujjaini Shakti Peeth:
Ujjaini Harsiddhi Shakti Peeth is situated on both banks of the holy Shipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. It’s where the Goddess’s elbow fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Mangal Chandika and Bhairav Mangaly Kapilambar.
Manivedika Shakti Peeth:
Located in Pushkar, Rajasthan, the Manivedika Shakti Peeth, also known as the Gayatri Mandir, is where the Goddess’s forearms fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Gayatri and Bhairav Sharvanand.
Prayag Shakti Peeth:
Located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, this Shakti Peeth is associated with the fingers of the Goddess. However, there is a difference in opinion regarding its exact location. It’s considered to be associated with Akshayavat, Mirzapur, and Alopibagh. The Shakti at these three Peeths is Lalita, and the Bhairav is Bhav.
Utakal Shakti Peeth:
It is believed that the navel of the Goddess fell in Puri and Yajpur in Odisha. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Vimala and Purushottam Jagannath.
Kanchi Shakti Peeth:
Kanchi Shakti Peeth is situated in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where it’s believed the skull of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Devgarbha and Ruru.
Kalmadhav Shakti Peeth:
There is no specific location known for this Shakti Peeth. However, it’s believed that the left buttock of the Goddess fell here. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Kali and Bhairav Asitang.
Shondesh Shakti Peeth:
Located at the Narmada Temple in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, the Shondesh Shakti Peeth is where the left thigh of the Goddess fell. There is another belief that Tarachandi Temple in Sasaram, Bihar, is also the Shondesh Tatsya Shakti Peeth. It’s believed that the right eye of Sati fell here. The Shakti at both locations is Narmada or Shonakshi, and the Bhairav is Bhadrasen.
Kamakhya Shakti Peeth:
Kamakhya Devi Mandir is located in Kamagiri in Assam, situated on the Kamagiri Hill in Guwahati, is the location of this Shakti Peeth. It is where the yoni (reproductive organ) of the Goddess fell. The presiding deities are Kamakhya and Bhairav Umananda.
Jayanti Shakti Peeth:
Located in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, the Jayanti Shakti Peeth is where the left thigh of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Jayanti and Bhairav Kramadeeshwar.
Magadh Shakti Peeth:
In Patna, Bihar, the Patneshwari Devi is considered the Shakti Peeth, where it is believed that the right thigh of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Sarvanandakari and Bhairav Vyomkesh.
Tristotaa Shakti Peeth:
The Tristotaa Shakti Peeth is located in Shalvardi village on the banks of the Tista River in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. It is where the left buttock of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Bhramari and Bhairav Ishwar.
Tripura Sundari Shakti Peeth:
Situated in Radhakishore Gram, Tripura, this is where the right foot of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Tripura Sundari and Bhairav Tripuresh.
Vibhasha Shakti Peeth:
Located in the Tamraluk village of Midnapore, West Bengal, the Vibhasha Shakti Peeth is where the left ankle of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Kapalini, Bhimrupa, and Bhairav Sarvanand.
Kurukshetra Shakti Peeth:
Near the Dvapayan Sarovar in Kurukshetra, Haryana, this Shakti Peeth is known as Shridevikup Bhadrakali Peeth. It is where the right toes of the Goddess fell. The Shakti and Bhairav at this Peeth are Savitri and Bhairav Sthanu.
Yugadya Shaktipeeth, Kshirgram Shakti Peeth
Located in Kshirgram, Bardhaman district, West Bengal, the Yugadhya Shakti Peeth is where the right toe of the goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The presiding deities here are Jugaadya and Bhairav Kshir Khandak.
Virat Ambika Shakti Peeth:
Situated in Vairatgram, a part of the Pink City, Jaipur, Rajasthan, the Virat Shakti Peeth marks the spot where the fingers of the right foot of the goddess fell. The main deities at this temple are Ambika and Amrit Bhairav.
Kalighat Shakti Peeth:
Kalighat Shakti Peeth is located in Kolkata, West Bengal, and is famous for the Kali Temple. It is believed that the right toe of the goddess fell here, along with four other fingers. The main deities worshipped here are Kali and Nakuleshwar Bhairav.
Manas Shakti Peeth:
Manas Shakti Peeth is situated on the banks of Lake Manasarovar in Tibet. This Shakti Peeth marks the spot where the goddess’s right hand fell. The main deities here are Drakshayani and Amar Bhairav.
Lanka Shakti Peeth:
Located in Sri Lanka, the exact place is not known. It is believed to be the spot where the goddess’s anklet (nupur) fell. The main deities here are Indrakshi and Rakshaseshwar Bhairav.
